Treetop House
Nestled amidst towering trees, this charming 2-bedroom pied-a-terre is the Madras residence of a Seattle-based couple. Longing to establish firm roots in a city they had called ‘home’ for a significant part of their lives, the interior design pays homage to the rich tapestry of South Indian culture. The treetops and golden sun outside informed the apartment’s layout, ensuring all spaces embrace the tropical landscape. Warm wood tones, rich colours, sophisticated brass accents, treasured antiques, and potted greenery converge, capturing the energy and spirit of Madras. Yet the home is also about bringing the family and friends together, and the thoughtful inclusion of details like a custom-built window seat, banquette seating around the dining, and a traditional oonjal (swing) in the balcony invite conversation and shared memories.
